Happy Sunday, friend. As you prepare for worship this morning, let’s take a moment of quiet to invite God’s presence into your awareness today.

Psalm 16:1-11 says this:

16 Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge.

2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;

I have no good apart from you.”

3 As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones,

in whom is all my delight.

4 The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply;

their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names on my lips.

5 The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot.

6 The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;

indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.

7 I bless the Lord who gives me counsel;

in the night also my heart instructs me.

8 I have set the Lord always before me;

because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices;

my flesh also dwells secure.

10 For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol,

or let your holy one see corruption.

11 You make known to me the path of life;

in your presence there is fullness of joy;

at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

In your presence there is fullness of joy. We see in the Bible when people encounter the presence of God, they leave changed. Think about Moses’ glowing face when he came down the mountain after his experience with God and the burning bush. We may not visibly glow from being in God’s presence, but I think you know what that feels like. It’s a fullness of joy. It’s a feeling of safety and peace.

Those of us who worship and experience God best through music know that feeling of God’s manifest presence being in the room. It’s tangible. And while God’s presence lives inside us through the form of Holy Spirit, we can also invite Him to make His presence known as we meet with Him---whether it’s in times of worship, prayer, solitude, meditation or even in the midst of a crisis. Let’s not neglect to invite God to the room as we prepare to worship Him corporately today.

Let’s pray.

God, As we gather today to honor You and magnify You, would You meet us here today? Would Your presence sweep in and make itself known to everyone present. That the believers would feel You and know You and that those who don’t yet believe would recognize that something different is happening. God, You’re the guest of honor today. Be with us as we meet. It’s in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
